Lazy Peeps!

We're all entirely lazy *rolls*

Anyway, with a bit more prodding, we'll hopefully be able to release the next few eppies shortly~

Notes for this eppie cos Emess hates tl notes:

Japanese have live-in students who basically get free accommodation if they odd jobs in households for it - kinda nice if you think about it, free rent in exchange for cleaning - saves you a packet in accommodation fees, maybe we should start that system too!

This episode has a lot of Engrish - but since he does like to say his Engrish in Engrish, we decided to sub the Engrish word for word - just cos, well we were planning to skip it, but unfortunately Mr. Japan has exceedingly bad Engrish. Mr. India on the other hand has excellent American English!

French Idochina: Part of the French colonial empire in south east Asia. It's made up 3 Vietnamese regions and part of Cambodia was later on added to it too~

Khmer Empire: For more info about this civilisation, please go read up your history on Cambodia XD. It was one of the most powerfullest kingdoms in South East Asia in the 9th-13th century.

Finally some of the more Engrishy lines unengrishfied would be something like this:

Dialogue: 0,0:14:37.00,0:15:21.10,JapOverlap,,0000,0000,0000,,There's no problem because the trust is there. => He's not here because of his military status, he's here because I trust him.

Dialogue: 0,0:15:21.10,0:15:21.10,JapOverlap,,0000,0000,0000,,In fact, I don't belong to anywhere on the Earth anymore. => In fact, I don't consider myself to have any alligiance to any country.

Dialogue: 0,0:16:48.63,0:16:48.63,JapOverlap,,0000,0000,0000,,And this idea is to begin with drawn up on the assumption, => This idea is based around the assumption that...

Dialogue: 0,0:16:48.63,0:16:48.63,JapOverlap,,0000,0000,0000,,With all due respect, the concept that is centered around Japan is just small-minded after all. => The concept that Japan should be at the center of this vision is just too small-minded. - ie. one needs to look at the bigger picture in life :p

Anyway, feel free to unengrishfy those lines in your own versions, we just thought it would look odd to sub some in full engrish, and some not :p

Any other engrishyfied lines you want unengrishfying, then please let us know and we'll do our best to post up an alternative set :p

Enjoy~

Memory lapse~

So I was supposed to write a few notes about the eppies, but I've forgotten what I was planning to write >.<.

Episode 5 title refers to a photograph negative in case it escaped you all (qc thinks it might)

In eppie 5, the term "Dia Sangoku" ( 第3国) is used, literally meaning "third country." It's a term that no one uses anymore but basically refers to ex-colonial nations (including Taiwan, Korea, and China) -> Dictionary definition:

1. an individual with a foreign citizenship
2. term for foreign nationals of ex-colonial countries who reside in Japan; refers in particular to those of Taiwan and Korean descent

The latter definition only came around in the 1940s~

You can also be extremely vague and just assume it to mean a third party.

Oh and Comintern was an organization founded in Moscow to spread communism, etc. - for more info, please go read a history book!

Anyway, go watch a cat run rings around two elite officers with strange powers!

Short!

Since I'm feeling lazy, this is all you get:

Shanghai International Settlement: Formed in 1854-ish, when a united muncipal council was formed to serve the best interests for foreign powers in China (read British, French, America. etc.) in Shanghai, China. Unlike the colonies of Hong Kong and Weihaiwei, which became British colonies and were ruled by Britain, Shanghai remained under the direct sovereign of China (ie. although national powers had practically complete say in this territory, it still belonged to China - kinda a lease, one could say). Thus, when world war II broke out, German nationals could still operate freely around Shanghai as it was under the direct sovereignity of China, and not Britain (although Britain controlled much of the ruling council in the city).

For more info and probably an explanation that makes more sense and is even more accurate, please go read some history books on the subject!!!!

With that, I assume I won't need to tell you what's out... Right?

Happy Birthday Nessy!

Another Ishie post! But this will be a fairly short one - well, relatively shortish one because I'm very very tired, so can't be bothered to type much.

First of all, no kanji again for the ed because we figure you wouldn't read it, but just in case you decide you do want the kanji (for unknown reasons of your own?):

寄り添う影 見果てぬ時の中を
逸れないように
少しだけこの世界が悲しく思えたよ
君に出会うまでは
優しすぎて 帰る場所さえも忘れる
零れた涙 肩越しの空
小さな夢を叶えてゆく強さも
忘れないで
前だけを向いて歩けば どんな弱さも笑顔にかえて
生きて行くこと君が教えてくれたから

Again, I offer no assurance or guarantees that it is correct :D

Secondly, we did think about typesetting the maps, but then we figured you wouldn't be able to read it, plus we felt extremely lazy. So here's a piccie of the first map:

Then the second map, all you need to know is that the large writing on the left translates as "The People's Republic of China," while the large writing on the right translates as "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea."

Thirdly some tl notes we didn't add to the episode because Emess hates tl notes :( (in fact he wants us to remove all, but I refuse to semi spite him *nods*)

1) Japan was given the Manchuria area after the Russo-Japanese war, but it was only leased by China to Japan. Offically, the land still belonged to China which is why in the subs it states that "Japan had planned on capturing the area" and not "captured the area" as the land still belonged to China.

2) "In 1919, the occupying Japanese garrison in this realm reorganized themselves as the Kwantung Army, and declared themselves independent of Government rule." - this is edited liberally. So although they declared themselves independent of Government rule, they were still under Government rule and part of Japan. They did not form a new country of their own and break away from Japan and the Government. What they did do was follow some of the Government rules, but also ignored some - in other words, they picked and chose which rules they felt like following. Occasionally they'd even try and overthrow certain members of the current Government from behind the scene if they didn't agree with their policy. Translating it as a "Shadow Government" isn't correct either as they were not the ones in control of Japan itself - only their own area, nor were they the opposition party to the Government since they did follow some of the rules, but disregarded others. We did think about maybe putting "semi-independent" but that's kinda not precisely correct either - hmm, I wonder if that made sense at all!

3) 酒池肉林:Shuchi-nikurin="Pond of Wine" and "Forest of Meat" are words from the Historical Romance of Apotheosis (Feng Shen Yanyi) a chinese novel about Da Ji, a woman depicted as the worst woman China could ever have (such hate ;-;). Da Ji basically caused the downfall of the Emperor Zhou Shang by making him forget about matters of state, spending lots of money, holding riotious parties involving much debauchery and nakedness, torturing innocent citizens, and so the list goes on (which is why Fulan is so shocked when Aoi says "Shuchi-nikurin"). Eventually, the tyrant Emperor commits suicide (when his peeps rebel) and Da Ji is killed. (Start rant: Blame the poor females for causing the downfall of the kingdom why don't you? It's men's own fault! RAWR - Like Troy they blame the females too! Life is so unfair! /end rant)

Anyway, that sums it up just about.

Thanks to redbat for sorting out all distro, and ani for telling me how to upload to tokyotosho (yes, I'm a bit stupid because I couldn't figure that out myself >.<)

Enjoy~

(Expect to wait n years for the next eppie :D)
